Our Support Programmes

Ronald McDonald House Auckland offers a range of support programmes and activities for patients and their families. By providing comfort, time out from the hospital, or a familiar routine, they can help patients heal and families cope while far from home and their support networks.

We aim to create experiences and build positive memories that aren’t all about hospital. However, they do more than that. They help support the children undergoing treatment, and help their families provide the love, comfort and support their child needs for the best outcome possible.

Our support programmes include:

Ronald McDonald House School (onsite): All children who stay with us for more than 5 days must attend our onsite school. Our school brings routine, normality and hope to the school-aged patients and siblings in our care who are dealing with abnormal and stressful circumstances - please click here for more information about the RMHA School
Family Dinners: Family Dinners provide the comfort of a home-cooked meal and help ease the emotional and financial challenges of caring for a seriously sick child
Stretch-N-Grow: The fabulously fun fitness programme for kids! Stretch-n-Grow offers patients and their brothers and sisters fun, fitness and a welcome break from the hospital environment
Family Art: Family Art Classes allow families to relax and put aside their worries, have some fun and interact with other families
Radio Lollipop: Radio Lollipop is a charity that encourages children to initiate and play ‘games’ helping them feel happy, positive and involved.

Volunteers make it all possible

RMHA volunteers play a vital role in these programmes. Where possible we try to secure grant funding to cover costs, but undertake in-house fundraising activities to help cover any funding shortfall.
